CM.it: Inter take the lead over Milan, Real Madrid and Man Utd in race for €45m teenager

By Oliver Fisher -

Inter appear to have taken the lead in the race to land AC Milan target and Sporting CP defender Nuno Mendes, according to a report.

The Rossoneri have been repeatedly linked with a move for the 18-year-old left-back, as have a number of top European clubs, but it seems as though it’s city rivals Inter who are ahead in the running.

According to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo (via Calciomercato.it), CEO Beppe Marotta has a blitz ready to beat the competition and win the race, with the knowledge that the player is already in the crosshairs of many top European clubs such as Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Juventus.

Sporting CP do not want to offer a discount on the defender’s €45million release clause, a major obstacle for the Nerazzurri who will try to defer the payment with a paid loan for 18 months and an obligation to buy.
