CM.it: Milan interested in Netherlands international as agent declares he ‘really likes Serie A’

By Oliver Fisher -

The agent of AZ Alkmaar midfielder Teun Koopmeiners has once against opened the door for his client to move to Italy, with Milan reportedly interested.

Koopmeiners has continued his excellent form from the previous season in which he scored 11 goals in 25 games before lockdown cut short the season, as he has netted 12 goals in 23 appearances in the Eredivisie in 2020-21, playing every minute of every game.

Calciomercato.it exclusively interviewed Bart Baving – the agent of Teun Koopmeiners – about the rumours that some big Serie A clubs are after his client. Interestingly, their report mentions that Milan and Roma are among the clubs interested in signing the Netherlands international, as well as Inter and Napoli.

“Italy could be a good option for him. Teun really likes Serie A and also the great passion of the Italian fans. Many European clubs follow him and it is nice to know that among these there are also Italian ones, however this does not surprise me because he is certainly able to add something important to a team,” he said.

“He will continue to improve because he is busy every day to grow more and more. He is a true professional, I call him ‘Mister 110%’, he has been like this since I started working with him at sixteen. His qualities? He has a fantastic left foot and extraordinary passing ability. He is also powerful, a functional player for the team with great tactical intelligence, a born leader. Like Kross, but also Matic. Looking at his statistics, which are super, he can instead be compared to the former Napoli Jorginho.”

The report adds that Alkmaar ‘have not set the price of his transfer’ – as declared at the end by his agent – but from his sale they could really get a significant amount – perhaps more than the €22m Spurs paid for Vincent Janssen.
