AC Milan have begun talks over a deal for Barcelona defender Junior Firpo, it is claimed, but it remains a very difficult operation.
Junior signed a five-year deal with Barcelona for €18million plus €12m in add-ons (via Wikipedia) back in August 2019, but he has found playing time hard to come by this season so far having made just four league appearances.
This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reported that Milan could now go hunting for a vice-Theo after solving the problem regarding a deputy to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The paper added that the first name on the wish list is Junior Firpo of Barcelona, but for now a definitive decision has not yet been made.
According to Calciomercato.com’s Daniele Longo, Milan have begun contacts with Barcelona over Firpo in what is described as a ‘very difficult operation’ at the moment. Massara and Maldini are considering giving a new full-back to coach Stefano Pioli, he adds.
In a follow-up tweet, Longo reveals that it is a sign that the Rossoneri’s market is not closed after the additions of Soualiho Meite (signed on Friday), Mario Mandzukic (doing his medical) and Fikayo Tomori (very close to joining).
Otavio and Thauvin please!
