CM: Leao asks to come off and receives treatment – the latest on his condition

There was a real moment of worry in the second half of last night’s 3-0 win over Stade Rennais at San Siro when Rafael Leao asked to come off not long after scoring.

As Calciomercato.com recall, the incident happened after hour of play, with the score 3-0 and just a few minutes after Leao scored a simply wonderful goal after another excellent bit of link-up play involving Theo Hernandez.

After speaking with his coach on the sidelines, he asked for a substitution and the suggestion was that the Portuguese winger was suffering from some muscle fatigue. Noah Okafor entered the field in his place.

More information came from Leao’s words after the game, and he confirmed that there will be no scan needed from the medical staff in view of Sunday’s game against Monza.

On the bench, some electrodes were applied to the former Lille man to stimulate the right calf area, and when the camera picked it up it certainly caused some alarm among supporters who questioned if he had tweaked something.

However, Leao spoke to Sky after the game and confirmed that there is absolutely no cause for concern: “I took a knock, everything’s fine. I’ll be there against Monza.”
