CM: Maldini worried about Milan star’s €50m clause – meeting with agent not excluded

AC Milan are close to welcoming back a key player in Ismael Bennacer, a report claims, but there are some worries about his long-term future.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan are hoping to welcome Bennacer back in the next week as the Algerian has been out since the game against Parma in mid-December when he left the pitch due to a hamstring injury.

Barring complications, Bennacer should be available for next Saturday’s match against Bologna, a game in which the Diavolo will have to respond after the heavy defeat against Atalanta.

Milan have struggled without the former Empoli man as Sandro Tonali has been inconsistent and Rade Krunic did not convince at all, and with Bennacer on the field it is a whole different story. He gives more balance, retrieves more balls and gives different solutions.

However, the report adds that his contractual situation does not leave Maldini and Massara calm. The deadline of 2024 is not a worry but his release clause is, because if next summer a foreign club arrives with €50million they can sign him without Milan having a say.

For this reason, a meeting in the coming weeks between the club and his entourage should not be excluded, to avoid nasty surprises.

  1. They should trigger it to not for sale because he and Hakan are the best midfielders in the league,I stand to be challenged.

  2. Bennacer is one of those players that are rare in the world of soccer. He doesn’t score or assict. But he orient the game and put his teammates in better disposition with the ball.
AC Milan need to update his contract.
