CM: Goals dry up for Man Utd – Milan and Inter target eyed as January solution

By Oliver Fisher -

Manchester United have had a very tough start to the season and they are looking for a new centre-forward, with an AC Milan and Inter target reportedly in their sights.

As Calciomercato.com recall, a 3-0 elimination in the Carabao Cup against Newcastle United on Wednesday night followed a 3-0 defeat in the league against Manchester City – both at Old Trafford – to pile the pressure on Erik Ten Hag.

Part of the reason for the crisis (albeit far from the only one) is also the lack of an experienced No.9 who can support former Atalanta player Rasmus Hojlund, who was bought for around €80m in the  summer but has not yet scored in the Premier League, though he scored three in the Champions League.

In January they are looking for a new striker and there are a couple of names on their list: Ivan Toney of Brentford and Mehdi Taremi of Porto. The report adds how the latter is also in the sights of Inter and Milan who both want a striker in January.

The great dream of the Red Devils, however, remains the Napoli star Victor Osimhen who has not yet renewed his contract which expires in 2025. The big names in the Premier League are racing and Manchester United, if they want to get back into the running for the Champions League, must find more goals.
