CM: Milan allocate €5m budget to try sign major target in January

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan retain a strong interest in signing Juan Miranda from Real Betis and there is some budget available for January, a report claims.

Calciomercato.com report that Miranda has become the Rossoneri’s big target with the management search of a quality deputy to Theo Hernandez, something that the game against Juventus tonight has intensified.

Alessandro Florenzi is expected to start on the left side of the back four which is his non-favoured flank, with Theo Hernandez suspended and Davide Bartesaghi – who is yet to start a competitive game – injured.

Geoffrey Moncada and Antonio D’Ottavio particularly appreciate Miranda’s profile and the intention is to accelerate, also to beat the competition from Spanish and German clubs.

The objective is to try in January, taking advantage of Miranda’s contractual situation as his deal expires at the end of the season and negotiations with Real Betis are yet to lead to an agreement.

Milan sense the possibility of a low-cost deal and have allocated a rough budget of around €5m to get the operation done. If Betis do not open to a sale in the winter, the management will still try to land him on a free.

  1. Do we need to buy him if we can have Bartesaghi and Jimenez giving Theo cover – and probably eventually replacing him when we have to sell him? Buying him may impede the progress of the two younger players who will need game time – unless they go out on loan and he is there to cover this?
