CM: Milan advancing in pursuit of €15m duo – positive talks held

By Oliver Fisher -

The January transfer window could well end up being a busy one for AC Milan particularly in the defensive department, where an injury crisis has limited the options available.

Geoffrey Moncada said before the Cagliari game last night that more defenders are needed, and Calciomercato.com have provided an update on Milan’s ongoing pursuit of two players.

They state that Filippo Terracciano has promised himself to Milan. The meeting between the agent Andrea D’Amico and the Rossoneri management led to a total agreement over a contract until 2028.

The choice has been made to focus on the 20-year-old because he is a profile considered to have ample room for growth, he is liked because he can play multiple roles and he is Italian (useful for squad lists).

A first direct contact with Verona is already expected in the next few hours and Milan will put on the table a €4-5m offer to beat the competition from Fiorentina and Juventus and hopefully to quickly close the negotiation.

Moncada and Antonio D’Ottavio are also very active on another negotiating table, namely that relating to Brest defender Lilian Brassier. He is held in high esteem and Milan are considering closing the deal for around €10m.

There were also significant contacts yesterday, but if a deal is not found for Brassier then the Rossoneri could also consider the idea of giving more space to Jan-Carlo Simic after the positive signs so far.

  1. This is what I would do in 2024

    – Promote Simic
    – Buy & Promote Jimenez (somehow get rid of RMs buy-back clause).
    – Do EVERYTHING possible to renew Maignan
    – Bench Calabria
    – Either go back to a 4-2-3-1 and play Pulisic as the Trequartista OR go to a 3-5-2 with Leao on the left but a bit further down (gives him more runway for his special runs) and Jovic with Giroud up top.
    – Buy a strong Striker (backup or not)

    4-2-3-1 Line-up

    ——————Giroud/Jovic———————

    Leao—————-Pulisic————–Chucky

    3-5-2 Line-up

    ——————Giroud—Jovic——————

    Leao———— -Reijnders———-Pulisic

    1. As much as I like Florenzi, the guy is not the same player he once was, nor should he be starting games. He’s someone that you bring on as a substitute.

We’re looking at Terracciano because I doubt Real Madrid will let him go.

      1. I dont agree with you on Florenzi – I still think he has a high level in his tank (better than Calabria).

Unfortunately I think you are correct on the RM and Jimenez comment – so hopefully Terracciano is the real deal – but Calabria is not Milan-level…

      1. Its not a LWB is an Winger – and he actually has shown glimpses of tracking back BUT I dont necessary see that the winger needs to and however Pioli would like to solve that is up to him, im merely saying that we should use both Giroud and Jovic together….

      2. He tracks back often enough as a forward, tactics sometimes dictate he stays up as you don’t always need 10 players behind the ball. If the defense depends on the forwards tracking back every time it’s time to get a new defense…

  2. Terracciano is a very interesting talent and versatile. I mean he can even play as RB. Plus we may actually need to sign him for requirements sake. Low risk, high reward. And low cost.

  3. 100 % yes to Terracciano, but no need for Brassier, should give Simic and Bartesaghi more game time. Forget striker for now and go all out for DM – Ricci

  4. No need for any defenders we are good for now we have Simic, Kjaer, Gabbia and Theo if needed. We have 4 injured defenders so a midfielder is much more Import I don’t care if they only buy one player this window but it definitely has to be a midfielder and not any midfielder but rather a proper one.

  5. Nothing wrong with promising youngsters. But you have to sprinkle some experience in there somewhere to guide them. This is what Maldini was arguing. This team is young and frail.
