CM: Milan continuing full steam ahead to sign No.1 target to replace Kessie

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are getting ready to bid farewell to Franck Kessie and they do not want to be caught unprepared when he does depart, a report claims.

Calciomercato.com report that Kessie will play his last game for the club on Sunday against Sassuolo before going to try a new experience abroad with Barcelona, and the management know that a quality signing will be needed to replace him.

The hottest name and the one that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have been working for the longest time remains that of Renato Sanches, who is seen as the ideal profile to come in and fill the void left by the Ivorian’s exit.

Contacts and talks with Lille and Sanches’ agent Jorge Mendes are ongoing and Milan want to have everything in place before the summer transfer market officially opens, so as to avoid the risk of a competitor swooping in and beating them to the 24-year-old.

  1. I’m not sure why Sanches continues to be talked about as a Kessie replacement when Sanches is more offensive minded and Kessie has been at his best back in the double pivot as a defensive midfielder.

Renato is more of a replacement for the ineffective and weak Brahim Diaz, IMHO.

  2. Yes, I know that; but my point is that his best attributes and skill are more offensive than defensive. I think Bennacer and Tonali are better than Sanches in the double pivot and Sanches’ skill set and passing skills and dribbling will be more well suited (in Pioli’s 4-2-3-1 system if he stays with it next year) to replace Brahim Diaz and not Kessie (who, as well all talked about quite a lot on this website, didn’t have a ton of success at the CAM position).

Perhaps with Botman next year, and with the way Kalulu has proven himself, we can play 3 in the back having Botman on the left, Tomori in middle and Kalulu on the right; then we can play Theo higher up the pitch as a left wing back and Florenzi as a left wing back.

    We could play a 3-4-3 or a 3-4-2-1.

    1. @DB stop saying what you do not know, Sanchez is a CM/DM, go watch his matches both lile and benefica, Sanchez was never an AMF, even in lille today, he plays CM/DM

Some of you here like typing rubbish, what do you mean Sanchez is AM, do you even know him? So you think that the legeñdary maldini chose him as kessie replacement is stupid? Please watch a player before you type rubbish….. he is kessie replacement, take it or leave it
