CM: Milan could let injury-plagued defender leave after just a year – the situation

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan defender Leo Duarte could be destined to leave the club after a disappointing first season since his arrival, a report claims.

Duarte arrived from Flamengo last year and has had a campaign plagued by injury problems. Back in November the club confirmed that Duarte underwent an operation to ‘treat a fracture to the calcaneus at the point where it meets the left achilles tendon’ – missing four months.

He was then out for few weeks after sustaining a problem with his flexor muscle earlier in June, and although he had recovered he has now suffered this latest setback.

According to Calciomercato.com, Duarte cost Milan €12million when he joined from the Brazilian club on a five-year deal, but he could leave just 12 months after his arrival.

The club are evaluating a potential loan transfer to give the 23-year-old some more game time and help him to get into more of a rhythm having had so many injury issues.
