CM: Milan have clear plan regarding future of winger with Atletico Madrid and Sevilla circling

AC Milan winger Samu Castillejo is not experiencing the best moment at present, having lost his spot in the starting XI amid a struggle to find form.

As Calciomercato.com reports, the Spaniard has gone from being a valuable resource for Pioli to a player who only gets starts in Europa. The numbers speak for themselves as this season he has played 215 minutes in the Europa League including three starts, and just 117 minutes in the league spread over four appearances.

Alexis Saelemaekers has now taken the right wing spot and there seems to be no chance of the former Villarreal man getting any opportunities on the left either. Therefore, Castillejo is struggling to find game time with continuity and when called into question he has been trying a bit too hard to impress.

His contract expires in 2023, but at the end of the season his agent will take stock of the situation with directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara. Castillejo is fine at Milan, the report adds but he wants to feel like a protagonist otherwise he will leave.

The report cites Mundo Deportivo, who claim that Atletico Madrid and Sevilla are keen on bringing him back home, with Monchi in particular a master in relaunching players.
