CM: Milan have regrets over €12m sale of Locatelli – comparisons with Kessie made

AC Milan have regrets over selling midfielder Manuel Locatelli to Sassuolo two years ago, according to a report.

The 22-year-old exploded onto the scene with Milan as a teenager, and many will remember the screamers he scored against his current club Sassuolo in the 4-3 win and the winning goal against Juventus, both in the 2016-17 season.

Locatelli left San Siro to join the Neroverdi on a paid loan deal with an obligation to purchase the player outright at the end of the season. He hinted in February that he would consider a return to Milan at some point in the future as he ‘dreams of going back to a big club’.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan managed to recoup a fee of between €13-14million from his sale, but they still have regrets over his departure given how he has performed under Roberto De Zerbi since his exit.

Now, he is becoming a complete midfielder and could even be considered a potential upgrade on Franck Kessie and/or Rade Krunic.
