CM: Milan intend to enter into negotiations with Raiola over new contract for centre-back

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are planning on discussing a contract renewal for defender Alessio Romagnoli with agent Mino Raiola, a report claims.

Romagnoli’s renewal is among the topics that must be discussed with Raiola in the coming months, as the captain’s current contract expires in June 2022 and the club would like to find an agreement.

At the moment the priority is obviously related to another of his clients in Gianluigi Donnarumma, but the goalkeeper’s situation – along with Calhanoglu’s – has taught the management that letting a star player’s contract wind down into the final year is not good for leverage.

According to Calciomercato.com, Romagnoli’s future is still to be written, but the club’s intention is clear. Paolo Maldini and co. fully intend to start talking to his agent Raiola about a possible extension soon.

Currently, the 25-year-old earns a net yearly salary of €3.5million and the Italian-Dutch agent is highly likely to ask for an increase on that.
