CM: Race for Genoa star has started – Milan involved but Inter want Frattesi-style deal

By Oliver Fisher -

Inter are the latest team to join the race for Albert Gudmundsson, as per a report, as they plan for a summer with some changes in the attacking department.

According to Calciomercato.com, the Inter management believe that Gudmundsson is the perfect profile to go for because he is entering his prime at 26 years of age, he knows the league well and he has a contained salary of €1.2m net per season.

However, it will take a large financial outlay to get him. In January Genoa rejected a €30m offer from Fiorentina for the forward because they did not want to sell him mid-season, but in the summer with an extra €5-10m added on top they could consider it.

Juventus and Milan have been admirers for some time as per the report, and they are also ‘in full swing’ for the Iceland international. In the Premier League there are teams sending scouts to watch him constantly, too.

Inter want to move quickly to take advantage of the excellent relations with the Rossoblu and quickly find an agreement. They have an operation similar to the Davide Frattesi one in mind: a paid loan and obligation to buy for €30m trigger by conditions easily achievable after 2 February.

It is a formula widely used especially for clubs that close their accounts through calendar year and not a sporting year, such as Genoa and Sassuolo, and useful for postponing the capital gain to the balance sheet that will close on 31 December 2025.

Gudmundsson’s great-grandfather actually played for Milan a few decades back so there is already a link there, but whether that will factor into his decision remains to be seen.

  1. I can see Inter get in the race if they have buyers lined up for Lautaro which is a strong possibility.

On the other hand, I’m not sure where he’d play at Milan unless we switch formation (dunno maybe a 3-5-2 for Conte)

  2. No way Acmilan should sign Albert Gudmasson so that we can fustrate intermilan but if we sign him he will be our attacking midfield now Acmilan is time to fustrate intermilan with spending High money to sign their target we don’t need intermilan to dominate us never so we will scatter all their efforts

  3. if Inter is shinking ship then why they buy & extend players easily? out bid the most sustainable club in Serie A, wining the league almost without competition. no fraud charge like Juve/ jery co.

    1. they are slowly reducing the wage bill and other sh!t. If they keep doing it this way they might be out of the red by 2030.. They got marotta who knows how to make sh!t happen, probs the only reason they still functional.

its definitely not easily. Imao they’re taking big risks. They will pouch 4-5 palyers on free again and hope they gel well

  4. He is a second striker who plays closer to the box. OG and Jovic will not be staying. We have Okafor for CF and Pulisic for SS. We will need another CF and another SS if 3-5-2 is what we are going to do next season. And the two additions must be in their prime. I cannot see Leao and Chuk staying past this summer.

  5. If management feel he’s the right profile then move quickly, please. All the names banded about last season all went to Inter…🤬

  6. Don’t see why the money would be spent for a guy whose best position is clearly as a second striker. He is a very similar player to Lautaro and Dybala, almost a cross between the 2.

He’s not a CAM and he’s not as dangerous out wide.

It makes little sense for Milan to sign Gudmundsson unless it will switch to playing 2 up font.

Given that Leao and Pulisic drive almost all Milan scoring I am starting to form the view that even Zlatan couldn’t be deluded enough.

  7. He is similar like CDK , his favourite position are second striker. He is not agile on wing. Put him on AMF in pioli formation just repeat CDK case . Easy skip , except for kelechi that want to sign all player
