CM: Milan keen on teenage Sporting CP star – Arsenal and Man Utd also interested

AC Milan have their eye on Portuguese left-back Nuno Mendes, a report claims, but they face competition from England.

In the summer transfer window the Rossoneri let Diego Laxalt go out on loan to join Celtic, meaning there is now no natural back-up to Theo Hernandez even if the right-footed Davide Calabria and Diogo Dalot have both played on the left in the past.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan have their eye upon Sporting CP’s 18-year-old left-back Nuno Mendes. He has already become a starter for the Lisbon-based club and has a good rapport with Dalot and Rafael Leao having played with them at junior level.

The scouting report compiled by Milan tells the story of an excellent talent, and a journey that culminated in a first call-up for the Portuguese U21 national team.

Sporting director Frederic Massara already made an attempt with Sporting in mid-September but they were not open for selling. However, Massara has not abandoned the pursuit and new contacts are expected with the player’s entourage. Arsenal, Wolverhampton and Manchester United are also interested.
