CM: Milan admirers of Man City defender but the pursuit is complicated – the reasons

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are admirers of Manchester City defender Kyle Walker but his arrival seems unlikely for a couple of reasons, a report claims.

As Calciomercato.com report, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are looking to add quality to a squad that has already shown that it has made a significant step in the Champions League. The priority is to sign a striker who can score 10+ goals, and then complete more targeted signings in other areas.

Walker has just over a year left on his contract with Manchester City and is considering the possibility of joining a new club, with Milan and Aston Villa mentioned as having an interest by The Times.

The Rossoneri currently have Davide Calabria, Alessandro Florenzi and Pierre Kalulu all capable of playing right-back, but they could seize opportunities to add quality and experience if they are economically sustainable.

The biggest obstacle concerns the salary of the 32-year-old, who currently earns €6m net per season at City which too much for the Diavolo.

Then a lot will also depend on the economic demands of the Premier League champions, because it is unlikely Maldini and Massara will offer a big sum for a player with a deal expiring in 2024. The liking for the player is there, but today it remains a complicated pursuit.

  1. Just stop this rumour. ACM are not willing to pay 6m euro nett/season for 32 years player except he have leadership like ibra
