CM: Milan’s plan for Romero after brace against Atletico Madrid

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan youngster Luka Romero has caught the eye whilst on loan at Almeria in Spain, thanks to the two goals he scored against Atletico Madrid at the weekend.

The Argentine still has a lot to prove and as has been reported by Calciomercato.com, the Rossoneri are aware that they need to nurture his talent very carefully.

Romero was loaned to Almeria in the January transfer window as he was not getting enough game time from Stefano Pioli, and the club wanted to ensure he stayed in Europe rather than went to his first choice of Boca Juniors.

Almeria sit bottom of La Liga and are destined to go down, but his two goals against Atletico Madrid secured a point that they certainly were not expecting to get.

Milan signed him on a free transfer from Lazio in the summer and given he was only born in 2005 and is clearly a talented attacker, the club stands to earn a big capital gain from him if there is no space for him in the team.

He is thought to be worth around €10m now and he could prove to be a very useful negotiation tool in the summer as Milan try to sign players in other positions.

  1. I have said this before Romero is a talented player he needs playing time for acmilan for him to grow we don’t suppose to loan him beside we need him more at the attacking midfield now we need Hernandez we don’t need to see him is an integral part of Milan so let’s retain him and sell tomori

  2. It is always challenging for short players to assert themselves in Italy with a few exceptions. He could very well be a player that fits in another league/ team better.

  3. I think it’s very cynical to sign a young player like him and then use him as a tool to get other players. I think he clearly wants to play for Milan and could be good in the future. Milan should give him a chance in stead of just selling him first chance they get.

  4. Or we could stop selling all our promising players for tiny sums and actually keep a good squad who fights for the club… but pioli and Co dont like that concept huh? Letting guys like Tonali, Kessie, Romagnoli, etc. Go and not replacing them
