CM: Milan plan to re-open talks over Bennacer’s renewal amid rumours of Man Utd interest

AC Milan are working on the renewal of Ismael Bennacer while rumours have arrived from England stating that Manchester United are interested.

Calciomercato.com recall how Bennacer was of considerable importance in the Scudetto win last season and given his current contract expires in 2024, there is the desire to extend the deadline. At the moment there are no signs of acceleration but the negotiations are continuing, though other teams could come forward to complicate matters.

Two years ago the former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had shown his interest in the former Empoli midfielder, but there was nothing concrete, and then Algerian remained at Milan convinced by the project.

The report cites The Sun in claiming that Erik ten Hag’s United, in search of midfielders, could reignite that interest. However, the favoured target is Frenkie de Jong of Barcelona, while interested clubs also know that Bennacer’s release clause is €50m.

A new meeting with the player’s agent is scheduled for the end of the month to evaluate their respective positions after the change of ownership, and there was a draft agreement in place between March and April over a four-year deal until 2026 worth €3m net per season, but now negotiations are open again.

  1. Is anyone really going to be upset if ManUtd activates Bennacer 50 mil release clause?
That’s 35 mil gained on what has been essentially a back up player.
I like Bennacer but Milan can easily not just replace but upgrade in his position with 35 mil

  2. Just give him new contract max 4m euro nett. If he refuse ,sell him to highest bid. Even 35m euro transfer fee already good capital gain
