CM: Milan in advanced talks to sign Partizan Belgrade starlet – the details

AC Milan are determined to win the race for Matija Popovic, a report claims, having been left dazzled after their various scouting missions.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan want to sign the 17-year-old Popovic from Partizan Belgrade. The young striker is fast, very technical and ‘stylistically beautiful to look at’, while he stands at 1.96m tall making him an imposing presence.

Milan have been watching the Serbia youth international for some time and they moved concretely to try and sign him, hoping to close a very interesting deal for the future as soon as possible.

Geoffrey Moncada and Antonio D’Ottavio have worked decisively with Popovic’s father and are aware that they are at a good stage in the negotiations. The final details must be resolved to complete the agreement, and he would arrive on a free transfer as his deal with Partizan expires on 31 December.

The Rossoneri are very cautious because until the signatures on the contracts arrive, anything can still happen considering that Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona are also interested in the teenager. However, much of the work has been done and the feeling is it will get over the line.

  1. We don’t need youngsters right now. Get an experienced striker in there, IF Giroud retires next year we’re going to need a steady hand to lead the line. A proven scorer.

  2. He would basically come for free as his contract ends december 31rst 2023,, of course we should pursuit him

    stats:
Kadetska liga: 25 matches played 21 goals 5 assists 93 minute goal ratio per goal 1.948 minutes played.
Considering the clubs who are after him i suspect people would complain why we didnt get him if he ends up at another club.

He is 1.93 m tall and will turn 18 january 8th.

For those who say we shouldnt focus on youth players i dont get it because there will ALLWAYS be an influx and efflux of players each year so why not get him as he seems like a pretty talented fella and might cost a lot in a few years time.

    1. id like to clarify that kadetska liga is primavera lvl (u17 i think), so you know, goals there dont count that much 😀
Hasnt even been on the bench for Partizan.
Still worth signing if he is free tho

      1. He is playing u19 but I propably should have elaborated on that but still he seems like a big talent nevertheless,
Not 100% free as they would have to be given some compensation for developing him but that propably doesnt mount up to more than 500k or a mil.
The fact that clubs like bayern, dortmund and barcelona is interested as well should give an indication about his talent so at least its worth a go but maybe he will prefer a german club as he is born in germany.

    2. Seems like a good deal. Would be all the more attractive if he was ready for 1st team where we actually need a striker.

The other lad the same age at Shalke, I don’t think we should be spending 12m on when we need every penny we have to get a good DM and a good striker

      1. I would go for both but maybe loan back Ouédraogo back to schalke for the rest of the season or maybe for a season more if they get promoted to 1rste bundesliga. Either way both players seems pretty impressive for their age and sometimes you simply need to buy players before they explode and becomes too expenssive but both seems destined to do so from what i can judge.
When that is said i agree we should get a good dm and a striker but on top of the other operations.
Stuttgarts player has a 17.5 mil release clause so i would suggest us to get him in januray as well if the release clause also can be triggered there.
