CM: Release clause and the player’s will – Milan’s strategy to win Ouédraogo race

By Oliver Fisher -

Assan Ouédraogo is a player that is very much in demand and there is almost a feeling of resignation at Schalke 04 that they will eventually lose him, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com report that Schalke know a talent that is just 17 years of age and plays with that personality in the shirt of one of the clubs with the most history in Germany means that he is destined for bigger things.

Ouédraogo would like to make his debut in the Bundesliga with his favourite team but it is possible they won’t make it in time because many top clubs want to sign him straight away. It is difficult, if not impossible, to imagine a transfer already in January because the teenager wants to stay in the Ruhr at least until the end of the season to finish his studies.

The Milan scouting area have given positive scouting reports over the year and a half that they have been watching him. Geoffrey Moncada and Antonio D’Ottavio consider him already strong and with potential to be a top-class player.

The Rossoneri management were planning an attempt in January but the signals coming from Germany are not positive. The discussion could start now but only with a view to the summer transfer market.

In recent days Ouédraogo has been linked to Inter in a possible mercato derby with Milan. The Nerazzurri scouting area monitors many talents around the world but have no plans to make an attempt for the German U17 international yet.

It is a different story regarding RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich and Liverpool who represent the real competition for Milan and it will probably be a duel focused above all on the player’s will and on commissions because the release clause in his contract is still relatively low at €12m.

  1. Honestly I don’t see the sense in this. He is another unproven youngster playing in the German 2nd division. So 12m is not a relatively low fee!

Just because a younster can dribble a bit and has some dynamism v’s low level opposition, does not make them a proven talent. We have some excellent young midfielders in Primavera.
Also look at Lazetic and so many others, waste of money.

We need to keep our funds for important signings like a striker, CB, LB, DM etc etc

Or are we just a development club now? Like Benfica or Lille or even Dortmund

    1. Moncada already scouting this kid since this kid still 15 . He must be talented because leipzig ,bayern, liverpool also scouting him. Whoever club that can offer play time will win to sign him

    1. Madrid have all the money in the world, so there is no comparison.
Put it this way, if next summer we want to get a good striker, this is the difference between having 40m to spend and 28m – Thats significant.
We must have an order of priorities, and a 17yo midfielder is way down that order
