GdS: Milan turn to Cremonese star in pursuit of deputy to key man

By Oliver Fisher -

A new name has ended up on AC Milan’s list of defensive targets in Cremonese’s Emanuele Valeri, according to a report.

The current situation that head coach Stefano Pioli is facing might just be a solid indicator as to why Milan are in the market for a new left-back, given that Fode Ballo-Toure has barely played in 2022 and the other solutions to replace the currently injured Theo Hernandez involve shifting a right-back to their non-preferred flank.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato.com), Emanuele Valeri is the latest idea in Milan’s pursuit of a new deputy to Theo Hernandez. The 23-year-old has been a positive for Cremonese in their return to Serie A having scored his first top flight goal.

Valeri – who has a contract expiring in 2024 – racked up three goals and one assist in 29 games last season as part of the promotion-winning side, and Lazio are also after him.
