CM: Milan want to carry out double operation in defence over the coming months – the details

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are looking to avoid another Donnarumma-esque situation regarding Alessio Romagnoli’s contract renewal, a report claims.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan want to sign a new centre-back in the January transfer window who can play as a back-up to Romagnoli at least initially, but the management also have one eye on the captain’s contract situation.

Back on 5 June 2018 Romagnoli signed a contract renewal until June 2022, meaning that the former Roma man is within two years of the expiration of his deal. Milan want to avoid another situation like the one they are facing with Donnarumma and Calhanoglu, where they are faced with the risk of losing two stars for free unless they agree a deal and fast.

The negotiations with agent Mino Raiola for Romagnoli’s renewal will be anything but simple and will inevitably be linked to that of both Donnarumma and Ibrahimovic, but confidence is also high because all the parties involved would be happy to continue together.
