CM: Milan’s firm stance on Romagnoli revealed as two European giants watch on

By Oliver Fisher -

Two LaLiga sides are interested in signing AC Milan’s captain Alessio Romagnoli but they face an uphill battle, a report claims.

Romagnoli recently decided to choose Mino Raiola as his new agent after splitting with Sergio Berti, and La Gazzetta dello Sport reporter Nicolo Schira stated that Raiola is keen on discussing a new deal.

The agent is apparently pushing for an extension until 2024 and a pay rise to €4.5m annually plus bonuses, while Alfredo Pedulla on MilanNews.it concurs that talks have begun over a new deal, but that Romagnoli’s future is ‘still to be written’.

According to a report on calciomercato.com, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have taken note of the situation and are interested in signing the 24-year-old.

However, the report adds that Romagnoli is currently negotiating a contract renewal with Milan, suggesting that he wishes to stay at the club, plus that the Rossoneri have no intention of selling one of their prized assets.
