CM: Moncada makes strong call on Terracciano after Torino enquiry – the details

Paulo Fonseca is currently working to evaluate the players that he feels will be useful to his cause at AC Milan, and that has caused some incoming offers to be declined.

Calciomercato.com reports that Fonseca has brought a breath of fresh air to Milanello with new tactical ideas, methodologies, double training sessions and lots of smiles in training. With the Portuguese coach at Milan everyone is starting from scratch.

The past counts, of course, but at the same time there is the desire of the coaching staff to try out everyone, studying their characteristics and personalities to enhance a squad that has quality. Among the players who are demonstrating great application is Filippo Terracciano.

Terracciano moved from Hellas Verona to Milan in January and the 21-year-old seemed to vanish after making a mistake which cost a penalty and two point against Bologna. Now, however, it is time to start again with a new coach who knows how to work with young players.

Several clubs – first and foremost Torino – have asked Milan if they can have the full-back on a season-long long but Geoffrey Moncada gave a negative response without thinking twice. Filippo will remain because the management believe in him a lot, he is useful for the squad lists and is versatile.

Milan made an investment of €4.5m plus €1m in bonuses for the Italy U20 international, snatching him from Verona when Fiorentina, Bologna and Juventus were also interested in the player. With a contract that runs until 2028, Filippo has all the time he needs to work and prove his worth.

  1. Good. I believe Terraciano deserved more chances. He played quite regularly at Verona before we bought him, he is already familiar with Serie A. Now all we need to do is instill confidence in him.

If Fonseca can bring the youngsters full potential, I think we can look at great future.

  2. We actually have plenty of fullbacks at the moment. Calabria, florenzi, Theo, kalulu, terracciano, Jimenez and even bartesaghi. There’s mannini in case of a crisis. There isn’t immediate need to buy, unless we are selling.

    1. Exactly. Which is why the links to Emerson Royal and the others are bizarre and would constitute a waste of money if true. We have more pressing needs.

  3. Terraciano is horrible. A loan would be great, maybe he can learn to play football. He is so bad he makes look Calabria like Cafu

    1. You saw one moment. I’ve seen Theo, Tomori, Nesta and other great defenders give up pks. There’s no real sample size

    1. You have to start somewhere, even Gattuso and Pirlo came in as squad players, in fact Pirlo was on the bench for most of his early Milan career, there’s only 11 spots on a team, you need to prove you belong there, especially considering he’s a former Azzurri U/20 player. There are guys that can fill his role from Futuro squad so he better show what he’s worth.

    1. Wait did you mean Musah? Or was it Adli? Oh I bet you meant Kalulu!

Yeah, part of it was the crazy of all the injuries but part of it seems to be the inability to create learning opportunities from mistakes by Pioli.
