CM: A long wait after Pioli’s call – Milan remain optimistic Thuram will choose them

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain are being kept waiting by Marcus Thuram as the striker ponders his options for the future, a report claims.

According to Calciomercato.com, Thuram has asked for a few more days to carefully reflect on the bids that he has received from Milan and PSG. The Frenchman will leave Borussia Mönchenglabdach on a free transfer, and he wants to make the right call.

Thuram knows that he would have a leading role with the Rossoneri, as promised by Pioli in a recent phone call, and the club believe that the longer the decision takes the higher chance they have.

That is because PSG have put forward an economic offer that far exceeds that of Milan but the call from Pioli and the pitch from the Rossoneri has clearly generated doubts.

Milan are convinced they have done everything possible to convince Thuram and could secure the arrival of their No.1 attacking target, but PSG have offered €7m net per season which is a figure the Diavolo cannot match.

  1. Naah, he will pull a “renato sanches” at the last week of mercato and ruin Milan’s plans and watch other people play for PSG next season.

    1. And that is why we shouldn’t wait for him for too long. He is not that good any way. The best thing about him is that he is free. If he is still draging it out in a week or so start going for other strikers like Retegui 18mil, Scamaca loan, or even Brereton Díaz, free low gamble talented striker that might turn in to a revelation. There are options out there, but the more we wait the less options there will be.

    2. Im afraid that worst scenario too . If take too long it will ruin AC Milan plan and end with panic buying / panic loan . AC Milan can only offer 4,5m euro nett with bonus 500k euro total 5m euro while PSG can offer 7m euro nett not include bonus, AC Milan are disadvantage because PSG can easily find marcus replacement with unlimited money while AC Milan have limited money

    3. It’s not the same situation as Sanches. Sanches stalled us because he waited for PSG to make an offer. Once they made an offer, he took it immediately. Here, Thuram has already received an offer both from us and from them, yet he’s contemplating.

Not saying he’ll sign for us, but it’s not the same case.

      1. Nope. All things went south when Luis Campos and Galtier (both ex Lille and have excellent relation with Sanches to put it into a context) came to PSG.

      2. “It’s not the same situation as Sanches”

Stalling and saying no is exactly what Sanches did and now Thuram is doing.

  2. There’s very few players these days that take pride over money. In the end this guy can make 7m a year to play for his biggest home team whether he rots on the bench or not.

If he actually wants to make a name for himself it’s a no brainer he should come to Milan and it would show what type of person he actually is. At this point we can only hope he chooses us because the way this mercato is going we will end up bringing nobody.

    1. Agreed. Nothing wrong with that. That is the nature of the game today. Money is priority number one and that’s fine. Each man has his own decisions to make. It was similar in the past when Serie A was the best league in the world and the players made the top salaries while the EPL (perhaps aside from ManU) couldn’t compare, now the roles are reversed. I’m sure many EPL fans of various clubs felt same as we now upset as to why these players are taking the $$ instead of playing for a team with more tradition and history. History often repeats itself just w different players so to speak. More richer clubs offering double or triple the $$. Hard to pass up if you are providing for your family? Would you pass that up if someone offered you double or triple your salary to do the same exact job? Maybe, maybe not. I actually tho k Thuram can still make a name for himself at PSG – M’Bappe will be sold probably this summer or winter and he will become the starter in a very short period of time in his home country for one of the biggest clubs in the world making twice as much $$ than with us. Pretty good deal. Plus I’m sure we will sell Leao to PSG as soon as M’Bappe is gone (nonway Redbird will pass on a 100M plus offer from PSG) – so in the end he will get to play w Leao anyways lol
