CM: Pioli to meet with management over ever-growing injury list

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli is set to meet with the upper management at the club to discuss why so many players are getting injuries and what can be done to stop it, a report claims.

As has been reported by Calciomercato.com, the meeting is going to take place in a calm manner without blame being assigned to anyone. The aim is to find out exactly what is causing all of the injuries and what training practices could be changed to stop them.

There is trust in Pioli and his training methods but clearly something has to be done given there are so many players out injured.

The first meeting of this nature could take place after training on Wednesday. Thanks to the injuries, there are more players at Milanello than normal for an international break.

Whilst Milan have a deep squad in some areas, others are being exposed thanks to the injuries.

  1. The players pick up injuries because they are not 100% match-fit. It makes sense to blame the medical staff if already injured players take additional time to recover. But to have healthy get injured during matches it makes more sense to blame the coach and his co-workers. They are responsible for preparing the players’ fitness before a match. So Pioli cannot escape responsibilities here. The question is: what the h*ll does he do with the players during training that makes them so vulnerable to injuries?
