CM: Replacements eyed as Liverpool ready €60m+ bid for Milan-linked Lazio star

By Oliver Fisher -

Liverpool are set to try and win the race for Lazio star and reported Milan target Joaquin Correa by putting a huge offer on the table.

The Rossoneri have been linked with a move for the 25-year-old over the past few months, with the playmaker having exploded since arriving in the Italian capital from Sevilla for €16million (via Wikipedia) two years ago.

According to Calciomercato.com, Correa has ended up in the sights of Klopp’s Liverpool, but they face competition from ‘big Italian clubs like Milan’.

Correa has a huge release clause of €80million, and Lazio believe they have a diamond in their hands which is capable of growing further.

The Reds could decide to negotiate on the €80million clause though, and put on the plate the 30% they currently hold on the future sale of Luis Alberto. Liverpool still holds this contractual right over the Spanish midfielder, at the heart of the Biancoceleste technical project.

They could waive that clause and put €60million on the plate for Correa, and if Lazio were to decide not to sell Sergej Milinkovic-Savic then Correa would represent an important capital gain.

The replacements in fact may already be lined up as sporting director Igli Tare could bring back Keita Balde or bet on Mario Gotze, the report concludes.
