CM: Samardzic expected to get summer move – what emerges on Milan’s interest

By Oliver Fisher -

Lazar Samardzic was expected to leave Udinese last summer but a switch to Inter fell apart, though this time around he is expected to get his move with AC Milan interested again.

Calciomercato.com reports that despite the many rumours about his possible farewell, at the moment no concrete offer has arrived in Udinese’s inbox for Samardzic, who racked up six goals and two assists in 34 appearances.

In the last few hours the Serbian has become an idea for Milan. The Rossoneri have made inquiries to understand if there is room to open a negotiation and at what cost but at the moment there is nothing concrete, the discussions could be explored further down the line.

There had been interest from Lazio but after some preliminary contact the discussions were interrupted, while a trail could open up in Turkey where Fenerbahçe had made an enquiry and Atalanta could be an idea in the event of Koopmeiners being sold.

The last club to actually come forward for Samardzic was Napoli last January. Aurelio De Laurentiis’ side had made an offer to Udinese but the gap between offer and demand was wide and was never filled.

In addition, the Azzurri also had to reach an agreement with Samardzic and his father/agent: the player had given the ok to the transfer, but the parties could not reach an agreement on the amount his father would get in commissions.

Compared to a few months ago, the Juventus idea has also cooled down and almost completely disappeared, given they have strengthened their midfield with the arrivals of Douglas Luiz and Khéphren Thuram and are negotiating with Atalanta for Koopmeiners.

    1. I believe it’s a waiting game to force Monaco and Fofana into lowering their demand cos the Club has an alternative or Perhaps there might be an opening to sign both…. Samardzic is a great buy and far better than Rabiot they planned going for.. Much younger and plays better football than him.

  1. If we sell bennecar to Saudi for 50m sign him and fofana and actually offer a good amount not 50% the value of the player

    1. Milan is fcked by the waiting game every time. Paying 20M€ for Musah and offering 10M€ for Fofana is just another evidence of the incompetence of the sporting direction.

      1. Excellent point. Would Monaco accept a straight swap Musah for Fofana?
It would seem to suit everyone.
But in the real world, what is Musah worth? 5m?

      2. Musah has three times the ROI potential that Fofana has. Whether you like it or not, other clubs are also businesses. And don’t underestimate the importance of age and potential. PSG paid around 60 million for Ugarte, and he didn’t seem any better than Musah for them lol.

      3. Musah had 3 years left on his contract.
Fofana has 12 months left. That plays a role in the transfer fee of the player.
When it comes to Milan reported offer to Monaco, Google the word leverage maybe you’ll learn something, but I doubt it.

        1. Haha what would be my life if you weren’t still hating me and insulting me because we disagree on a football website, I love you man

        2. Fofana get’s into the French squad, probably the most competitive squad in the world.
He is proven and entering his prime.
Hence he is “worth” over 30m at least, the fact his contract is expiring may get him for 15 to 20m.
But don’t pretend like we have leverage, there are any number of clubs who would be happy to get him and willing to pay!

Musah is young and has some ability but he is miles away from being a valuable proven player.

          1. He played in 5 different positions last season. No player. At 19 gets comfortable that way. You Milan fans are the most negative and miserable people in the world.

          2. Clearly you very new to the Internet Tippy.

You wanna see miserable and negative people? Go do a deep dive on fb, or insta, or shìttok

        3. Are we honestly comparing Fofana and Musah now??? LOLOLOLO

Fofana is being signed as a STARTER.
          Musah is a BACKUP. Period

If Musah was so good he’d be starting and we wouldn’t need Fofana.

While I like Musah – the fact is We spent 20M on a very raw BACKUP. Ya he has 3 years left on his deal BUT – we didn’t bid against anyone. Nobody else but us were after him. And we only wanted him because he was American. That was bad business.

Fofana is a Starter – and we are holding a higher valuation for Musah than Fofana? That makes zero sense. For 10M Monaco are better off keeping him and use him to help them qualify for UCL – that’s worth more than 10M.

          1. Musah has had offers of 35M (rejected), 30M (rejected) 6 months before he was signed. They fired Gattuso and brought in a new coach who played him as a winger and then sat him because he’s not a winger. Forest offering 25M in that window but he only wanted Milan and they eventually they were forced to give him up for 18M as they were up against EUFA sanctions. ..Fofana can say he only will go to Milan and his price changes drastically.

Musah grew up in Italy and London. He is not a known or marketable person in the US.

Just because Krunic and Bennacer only started 15 league games in the Scudetto season doesn’t mean that they weren’t important, like Tonali, Kessie and Brahim. Bennacer wasn’t a BACKUP. Period. purchased for 18M 3 years prior. You need rotation in the midfield…

I also wouldnt make assumptions on what the starting lineup looks like…

      4. Fofana is in the last year of his contract, B, with a clear desire for the Milan move. This IS LITERALLY the time to lowball offers.

It’s been done to Milan and we detested it then. Now it’s somehow different?

  3. Milan fans on here are truly cringe sometimes. Spin everything into as negative as possible and have meltdowns over a rumor mill article. Sometimes some need to take a chill pill.

As far as Samardzic… don’t see how he has anything to do with us signing Fofana. Two different players.

    1. It’s a coping mechanism I think. A lot of people are on edge altogether these days and need an outlet. Whether it is conscious or subconscious.

So its easy to come here, bash, unload and get a load off their chest. You know what I mean? And it’s not even that it is a constructive criticism of a club (which sometimes it is, but not usually)…

      Truly.

We all support the same club. But you wouldn’t be able to tell reading some of these comments…

  4. His entourage is leachy. Just as much drama as Rabiot’s. Which is sad because he’s actually a decent player.

There should be a regulation somewhere that family can not officially be an agent of a player.

  5. Folks here will believe Milan was ready to splash 40 millions on Zirkzee with which we also had an agreement and contract ready or as you like to put it, a leverage. That turned out well.

But same folk won’t believe Milan’s straight insulting 10 million offer for Fofana. Or will defend it with a cringy excuse like “his contract is expiring” or “hey man chill, it’s called negotiations. Maybe you should Google it.”
