Matteo Pessina has been one of the breakthroughs in Serie A this season, performing at a very high level for Hellas Verona. With seven goals to his name as a midfielder, he’s now looking for the next step in his career.
The 23-year-old is owned by Atalanta and they are looking to cash in on the player in September. According to Calciomercato.com, Pessina would like to return to Milan, the club that sold him to the Bergamo side in the Andrea Conti operation.
The Rossoneri added a 50% resale clause when they sold Pessina, meaning they can sign him for half the price in the upcoming window. It’s the player’s priority to return, tempted by the opportunity to play in a prestigious club that believes in young players.
Atalanta value Pessina at €15m and Milan would thus only have to pay €7.5m. However, for the time being, they are just observing the situation and haven’t made any concrete moves for the midfielder.
The likes of Roma, Napoli and Valencia are also very interested and it remains to be seen what Paolo Maldini – Milan’s technical director – will decide to do. Pessina is hoping that they will make an offer.
