AC Milan, once again, had to drag themselves back into the game last night against Como, and Sergio Conceicao believes it is a positive sign of his squad, rather than a worry.
The second half of this season has been particularly strange, with Milan often stumbling and sometimes managing to find their feet. However, there is a consistent problem with the Rossoneri – their inability to control the game.
Football often sees teams come back into games, but it almost feels like Conceicao’s team do better from a position of peril, and for the sixth time, the Diavolo managed to come back.
Perhaps, this is a testament to the mentality within the side, that does not give up after faltering. However, it can also be seen as a greater problem on the mental side, which means that the team have to be in danger before they show their best.
Speaking after the game, Conceicao took the more positive approach, and praised his side’s attitude after the comeback, and his words to the press have been relayed by Milan News.
Sixth comeback…
“On the positive side, there are those who come in and give something extra to the team: a good attitude, a good mentality. There were positive aspects, others not so much.
We started the game well, then we conceded a goal and doubts came into the players’ heads. It happens. We were too low, our pressing was not done well. Then in the second half we did well on Como’s weaknesses: you can see on the goals we scored what we worked on. This break is important.
Pulisic and Reijnders very good… Abraham also changed the game…
“Without a doubt. The return of Loftus also gives us something different to our midfield. Pulisic and Reijnders are of a very high level. Then they have great intelligence to play in any role.”
Great jubilation on the second goal…
“I saw the stadium that was with the team. Then all coaches are different, I felt like jubilating like that. We’re not always looking for controversy. I didn’t realise anything.”
What is the true soul of this Milan team?
“I see a group that really wants to do well, that gives its all. I see an incredible desire to change Milan’s moment and season.”
Konsi bro, the game from the first half was terrible and you must never let it happen again. That Milan play a low block for 15 minutes against a team that is fighting for survival? Well, we didn’t play against Pep’s Barcelona, but against humble Como. If you continue like this, even victories will not satisfy anyone. You stubbornly insist that Musah be ahead of Fofana? Change a couple of central defenders a little because because of them we conceded three goals in two games. By making changes during the game, you change the game, but you also admit that your starting line-up is crap. Call me man because there’s still time.
A desire to change was needed 6 months ago. It’s a bit late now, no?💀
It has to start from somewhere. We have some good players. Let this be the starting point.
