Sergio Conceicao of Porto

MN: ‘Conceicao day’ – new coach expected at Milanello this afternoon

AC Milan have wasted no time at all in lining up Paulo Fonseca’s successor, with Sergio Conceicao expected at the training ground today.

MilanNews writes that today is ‘Conceiçao day’ and the timing is strange, given that just 24 hours ago a different Portuguese coach was preparing the squad for the final game of 2024. However, Fonseca’s sacking was confirmed this morning and he has soon been replaced.

The reason for acting so quickly is obvious: in five days Milan will be on the pitch in Saudi Arabia against Juventus in the semi-final of the Supercoppa Italiana. The decision has been made and Conceiçao is expected in Milan for lunch at around 14:00 CET.

Conceiçao and his staff will head to the Milanello training complex this afternoon. The former Porto coach will thus have the opportunity to have a first look club’s facilities that will be his working environment in the coming months.

It is not mentioned in the report whether he will meet with the squad or not given some will rest after last night’s game. However, it will be a quick turnaround because the plane for the Middle East will leave tomorrow in view of the aforementioned Juventus game in Riyadh.

    1. Intend to agree, the romantic in me hopes Conceicao becomes the new pep or Jose, but a safe pair of hands like a Sarri makes sense….at this stage, who fooking knows

  1. Nothing against Conceicao, which was my preferred choice in summer. But the timing and the way Fonseca was fired is a shame for Ac Milan. Send him to press conference, fire him 15 minutes later with no communication to the press. Fonseca himself spoke with the journalists to let them know.
Fired 3 days before a very important competition in spite the fact there was a rationale to fire him way before, giving Conceicao more time.
6 months contracts to new coach means no legitimacy in front of the team.
    Horrible, horrible management.

  2. This is a tough one for milan fan if the new coach turns it around and performs well we would all be happy, if he fails too, maybe these clown managers will get the axe as well, and that would make milan fans happy as well. Popcorn ready.

  3. is this not entertaining yet?
do u want more drama jeri?
just hire Z’s favorite.. the lord bonera.

i hope i’ll see real coach next, someone who know the league, our team is sick need cure.. Gasperini, DeZerbi, Sarri, Mancini, Abate even Allegri i’ll take it

  4. 6 months? Let’s see what he can do in 6 months,.. The way director offering contract for him is ridiculous.. And more ridiculous is that he accept it. It tells a lot that he is mediocre.. Name it the best manager right now, you name it,, pep, klop, mourinho, or ancelotti.. Do they willing to accept 6 months contract in mess situation like Milan having right now?

  5. No surprises. After his sending off against Roma, which was foolish on his part, and the result, even I, was fed up. It’s obvious Fonseca won’t take us anywhere in the league. He’s really struggling. And, now, with all these injuries, it’s going to get worse. It’s good the management didn’t waste time getting a good replacement. I hope they also go out of their way to get quality reinforcement in January. Milan needs a top striker.

    1. Thank you very much SkySound they are indeed toxic and never satisfied with anything this Management is doing even though I am not satisfied with this Management either but something is telling that they are now regretting their past moves in hindsight and trying too hard to correct things. I believe Sergio Conceicao is a good option from now till end of the but have always been an advocate of Mark Van Bommel myself. I just pray that the new Manager pan out though.

    2. This platform only? Man you need to go and check other platforms. It’s much worse elsewhere. But don’t know if your fragile snowflake little soul can handle the non sugarcoated facts.

  6. I am following AC Milan since 1988 from Indonesia. I visited San Siro and Casa Milan that is very far from my country. AC Milan was a big family and always respect to their legend. From the beginning I expected that changed Pioli with Fonseca will ruin the stability in last 5 years. We hope the best for our club and maybe still there is time to fix it till May. Forza Milan !

  7. Welcome ceicao. Look like clowndinale like coach with slick hair like himself.

Ceicao first battle is against his son.

Will ceicao will be humiliated like fonseca who got to press conferense with confidence then get sack after 15 minutes. This clowndinale american style.
