AC Milan head coach Sergio Conceicao believes that his side continue to keep shooting themselves in the foot, admitting that he feels sorry for the supporters.

After being knocked out of the Champions League by Feyenoord on Tuesday night there was an obligation to respond against Torino, but ultimately Milan fell to a 2-1 defeat this evening.

A disastrous own goal a few minutes into the game was symbolic of the night that was about to come when Mike Maignan kicked a clearance straight into Malick Thiaw and it rebounded into an empty net.

Christian Pulisic missed a penalty in the first half too, but Tijjani Reijnders equalised inside the final 20 minutes to set up what looked like an exciting finish. However, Gineitis restored the lead very quickly for Torino, who ended up hanging on for the victory.

Conceicao spoke to DAZN after the game to share his thoughts on yet another difficult night, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

It was a game decided by two bits of inattention, was there not enough desire?

“Pavlovic has the characteristics of a warrior. The players have different characters. I feel sorry for the fans who have been there for these last matches. The last 12 out of 15 goals for opponents are unforced errors.

“We are not talking about strategy or formation, they are things that sometimes I ask myself without being able to answer. Today Torino were winning 1-0 in the first half without taking a shot, we scored the goal and then we missed the penalty and a few chances.

“Things happen where we have to be stronger. Every strange situation, it happens that we concede a goal and we are behind: it is not easy for the players either.

“The best on the pitch is the Torino goalkeeper, we took 30 shots. The incidents are truly incredible but we have to be united and be strong: I feel sorry for all the Milan fans.”

Leao went off at half-time, was it a tactical choice or does he have a physical problem?

“A bit of both: Rafa wasn’t at his best, there are other players. We’re not banking on one player, all players are important. We shouldn’t go for substitutions or formations because if you concede two ridiculous goals like that, any team suffers.”

Why was Musah substituted five minutes into the second half and not at half-time?

“Musah had a yellow card and was dangerous with Torino’s counter-attacks. I had to take risks and I put more attacking players always with balance. For me it was very important to give a signal to the team to be more present in the last 30 metres.”

The Curva Sud took it out on the team tonight and not the owners, what do they have to prove?

“They are right, they are right, they are absolutely right. There is no point in saying anything. It is our fault that they were here and we didn’t win, it is normal that they always have a great need.

“We are not satisfied when criticism arrives about the management, or the players or the staff. We are Milan and we take the criticism all together.”

      1. In this Torino game, not Theo and Leao’s fault. But, the decision that Mr. Sergio taken, to played Theo after his ridiculous night at Feyenord, thats the main problem.

Mr. Sergio is always counting on Theo and Leao again and again. For as we know, that this season Theo and Leao is fading.

Where is Mr. Sergio in the supercoppa???

      1. For what Leao is paid, he should have avoided the penalty foul in the first place and scored. For Theo, he simply doesn’t work hard anymore.

          1. Well… If you compare Sottil’s and Leao’s wages and how they did last night, I’d say we’re getting 100x more value from the Italian.

  1. Leao and Theo have become BORING and PREDICTABLE for all teams. They know that Leao is going to go to the byline and whip in a shite cross, or cut inside and take a shite shot. WE ALL KNOW THAT. They know Theo is not trying anymore and have studied his patterns. WE NEED TO SELL THEM and re-invite our attacking patterns. WE HAVE GIVEN THEM ENOUGH TIME BUT THEY CANNOT OVERCOME THE CHALLENGE. Strangely enough, Joao Felix is the only unpredictable one because he is new and has the ability to squeeze in interesting through balls.

  2. Leao and Theo have become BORING and PREDICTABLE for all teams. They know that Leao is going to go to the byline and whip in an awful cross, or cut inside and take an awful shot.

      1. I think Felix shouldn’t be starting, he should be coming off from the bench for Reindjers in a 10 position. I also think we should build the team to utilize the best of the defense we have, it will help crowd the middle when we are being attacked..i will go with:

        ……………………..Santi……..Pulisic………………………………………………………..Reindjers………………………………………..LWB……………Fofana….DM………………….Jiminez
        …………Pavlovic……..Gabbia…….Thiaw…………………….
        …………………………..Mike………………………

        1. Absolutely!!!!

3 man defence with LMW and RMW can be tried, with the 3rd CB being Gabbia or tomori.

Because Alex giminez has pace and makes good runs he can be placed at RWB.

Bench mouse and Fleix and start with fofana and rejinders.

  3. I’m not blaming the coach here but if the management decide to put the blame for the abysmal season on him and hire another coach (like a roller-coaster) then they should look at Xavi. He’s young and the players might buy into his idea but then again, we all know the problem of this team is beyond coaching. I know what we saw under Fonseca during preseason but somehow that brilliant football disappeared when the so-called star players got back and he tried to integrate them into his system. Maybe this team isn’t meant for stars but for players who are hungry like Pavlovic.

  4. The real question is: why are the fans NOT protesting against the ownership and managment? They are the root cause of this mess. They simply don’t know how to build a squad. Filled our squad with foreigners and 0 Italians. Keep buying a bunch of players, who have never played with each other, 0 chemistry. No experienced leaders in the squad either. Management that blames everyone but themselves for the shortcomings.

    1. The owners have invested heavily and gone through three coaches. They’re also only 18 months into the project. Some of these players also struggled in Puoli’s last 2 season’s, they struggled under Fonseca and now Conceicao.

  5. Well, I’m with the coach on this.
This is not the time to throw fingers at any one (management, specific player, coach,…) what is needed now more than ever is unity if we want to make top 4.

This game was a sad game. The lads threw everything they got. One can argue that it wasn’t good enough, but they gave their all.

Let them take a break. Forget about tonight and resume training next week refreshed. They need it.

    Forza Milan!

  6. Well, it’s hard to say, I don’t know what it is. Sometimes when things don’t work out, they just don’t work out no matter what you do. I don’t think that the players didn’t give their best today, there were plenty of chances and we could easily write about how comfortable the match was today, but unfortunately. The team is in crisis and there is only one way out of it, and that is honest hard work. Forza Milan!

    1. We honestly performed better without Félix. Leão and Félix are more effective as impact subs—when they start, the opposition is prepared to mark them, but when they come off the bench, it forces the opposition to adjust their tactics and formations on the fly

  7. – “This is the worst first half game in my career”, famously quoted..
    Today’s is not? Haha

sure he knows what he’s doing hahah 🙂

  8. The real problem is, why Mr. Sergio not just bring his 442 good work at Porto to this team.

Milan need work with 2 strikers. And he must not being confused to facilitate Theo and Leao.

Theo and Leao is good players, that is totally right. But Theo’s good time is fading in Milan now. Leao’s magic too is fading in Milan now, he’s so so much better play as a subs.

And then, Felix, why Mr. Sergio always give this man minutes to play. Felix is good only when he first came and played against Roma, after that he just ordinary player. Send him back to Chelsea this summer.

But, yeah we’ll see, next match against Bologna. If Mr. Sergio still played the same men and the same formation again, yes I can say he is so stuborn like Pioli did. And Mr. Sergio is just waiting for the fired letter from the management.

    1. He will point to red cards and the mistakes made by the players. Everyone is under pressure. I don’t think firing Conceicao now is the solution. When he has one game a week, he has more time to plan. Let’s see. Also, there’s no way these screw ups are getting 4th.

  9. Absolutely!!!!

3 man defence with LMW and RMW can be tried, with the 3rd CB being Gabbia or tomori.

Because Alex giminez has pace and makes good runs he can be placed at RWB.

Bench mouse and Fleix and start with fofana and rejinders.

  10. The problem is not the coach.
The coach is top class, but in this case, he is working with a bunch of clowns (RedBird) who has no idea about football, players, club, signings, nothing…
Every good player is getting annoyed with the American owners. Until the cancer (RedBird) leaves or sells the club, they can hire the best manager in the world, but it will fail because they have no fucking clue what they are doing. It’s like making a bimbo play your plane. It’s going to crash 1000% everytime no matter what decision she makes!!

  11. I will blame the coach for few reasons, ist give some players rest, people like Leao, Gimenez, Felix and musah, introduce them into the second half…
Leao and Theo are not that disciplined in terms of a touch pass, they should work on that, also musah too

  12. Don’t worry guys, we’ll get another tapiro d’oro at the end of this month and every other month. More trophies.

No need to protest, let this mgmt cook. Be patient, th3 t34m is st1LL rebu1Ld1N6…la la la la la…

    1. Haha 😂, ibra would step forward and repeat his mantra: “we are stronger”!.
      That’s the spirit!
Keep repeating useless mantra while collecting awards for building a useless team, devoid of planning.

If this is the result of meticulous planning, then I prefer absolute chaos!!

  13. I am with concenciao he is a good coach and the coach that Milan needs I think that for next season Milan should sell Theo and Leo and invest in two other young promising players.sottil was very good yesterday too .overall the team is ok without Lego and theo

  14. Milan should have not bring Felix to the teams is a barrier to any clubs and teams ……he bring problem to the teams ….the teams is doing well before he came since he came things start worsening…..he can not play Italy league not like a Milan …he should go back to Chelsea….is not helping the teams he contributed to us out of champions league….he should drop him in first selection…Sergio should go back to is normal players that is being using before the new signed came…tomori should be the minister of the defense because is very smart and aggressive always…tomori and thiaw or gabbia is ok….Felix played all games for Milan …he hardly subtitles him in all games…pu is the main man of Milan in that front…he help us allot… We don’t need Felix at all….he played other clubs is not signed because they have seeing is not a good player….he should be drop out of the teams …….is the main reason why Milan failed and all players are not happy because he scattered the information since the news players games….that is why we failed and out of champions league

  15. Sell Mr. Smile and Megan Rapinoe and reinvest it in younger players who are willing to die on the pitch and prove themselves. Also sell Maignan
