Sky: Milan launch first bid worth €25m for Roma forward – the latest

By Euan Burns -

Contact and a bid has been made between the agent of AS Roma attacker Nicolo Zaniolo and AC Milan who are contemplating a loan move for the Italian, a report claims.

As has been reported by Sky Sport Italia (via Milan News), the Rossoneri appear to be very serious about trying to bring Zaniolo to the club as long as it is under the right circumstances.

Milan would be willing to take Zaniolo on loan for the rest of the season with a mandatory redemption of €25 million as long as the Rossoneri qualify for the Champions League.

That valuation is still far from the €40 million that Roma have been requesting so far, but it is a strong opening from Milan. It is known that Zaniolo would rather stay in Italy than move abroad at this stage.

A meeting could take place in the very near future as Milan are in Rome to face Lazio on Tuesday night.

  1. I’m not a fan of the way he plays (very selfish) and his attitude, but he possesses physical tools( big, strong, fast) that can’t be thought . He is still relatively young, and if he can mature personally and football wise, he can still be a very good player.
If Milan can get him for up to 25 mil it’s not a bad deal because the kid has talent that was halted because of 2 devastating injuries. He is also Italian which we need more of for a full list of 25 players for the UCL.
Milan will need to sign a n10 anyway this summer either by redeeming Brahim or someone else.

  2. He is Italian, Milan need more of Italians in squad for Champions league regulation. Since Nicolo worth is probably 40 million on the market, also on transfermarket, 25 million under buy option if Milan reach Champions League – is far more realistic. Tottenham still have less chances to reach 4th place in England so Roma might accept Ac bid.

  3. This is a terrible idea. Incredibly overrated player. Selfish, dribbles too much instead of passing. Thinks he is way better than he actually is. Bad attitude. Bad fitness. Never seen him play a full 90 minutes. Often injured. Milan can’t sign a replacement for Kessie, can’t sign a good CB which we need, but they can find money for this guy? It can only be because he’s Italian.

    1. If they sign him, that would be about 60 mil spent on basically the same kind of player in the last 6 months.
CDK and Zaniolo are both some combination of a n10, striker, RW. But it’s Cardinale’s fault because he won’t give Maldini 200 mil to spend in every window

    2. Oh yeah because Milan only goes out and spends money on Italian players?! Milan needs more Italians in the team we need to grow and develop our young Italians. Look at what serie A is doing to the national team. Two world cups with no Italy anymore!! I am for zaniolo to come. I wanted Belotti too! I want foreign players but they should be champions and help develop the young players. Not waste of space like Baka or Messias or Origi or Ballo!!

      1. If Milan were going to spend on an Italian forward, Scamacca last mercato instead of Origi was the time to do it. Instead we’ve got Origi and CDK and a total of one goal between them.

  4. While zaniolo is not the perfect profile given his injuries and recent form, we are desperate!
Any investment to plug the numerous holes in the squad is a relief.
Hed def be a dam site better than any rw options we have or even at no 10 for that matter.
We can’t beat anyone right now, so any back up LB, CM, RW, AM, ST or goalkeeper would help alot.
He may not be perfect but could be the difference between getting top 4 or not, and there’s also the CL against Tottenham to think of.
When was the last time we brought in a player ready to jump straight into the starting 11? (outfield players)

    1. Thank you, we continue to complain but our alternative is saelemaekers. He’s better than what we have and if he regains his form we have a great player.

    2. No. Seeing as Milan has limited funds to spend, they need to spend smart. Spending this much on a guy who is always hurt and not very effective when he is healthy is not smart. He is also not a team player. Every time I watch this guy he is trying to pull off dribbles he is not capable of, falling to the ground and yelling at the referee for a foul. I hate watching it now when he’s on Roma, I can’t imagine how frustrating it will be to watch him do that on Milan.

  5. Also I don’t believe Tottenham is interested in him. To play where? Everyone they have is miles better than Zaniolo. Son, Richarlison, Kulusevsky. Kane. How is Zaniolo getting into that lineup? Tottenham need some defensive backs and midfielders.

    1. What kind of player can we get with the funds given to us? Average players these days go for 20m.. The reason why he’s going for so low is because his injuries and his contract running out and asking to leave. Any other day roma could get 40-50m for him. If he comes and rediscovers himself he instantly an 80m player and we’d have one of italys most promising players. It’s a gamble no doubt, one I’m willing to take. I’m so desperate because my eyes can’t take seeing the guys we have in attack play.

  6. ALL this talk about if he rediscovers his form…what form are we talking about? When was he ever anything more than hype? He’s big, fast and strong. That’s about it.

    1. He was always Roma’s most dangerous player before mourinho. He’s got a world class full touch and any spectator who knows football knows this kid can be something special. Also, I dont know if you live in Italy or not but he’s highly regarded there. Is he at his best right now? Absolutely not, neither was dybala before he joined roma but things change. He can flourish at milan. And from what I’ve seen from 2023 we can get any help possible

      1. That’s the problem. Every Young Italian player gets overhyped by the Italian media. Same with Tonali. The next Pirlo… not in a million years. Chiesa is maybe the only one that might live up to the hype if he can stay healthy. Italy is just not producing great players right now.

    2. Along with Chiesa, he’s regarded as the best Italian talent in their generation. Unfortunately they’re both hindered by heavy injuries. Look at Zaniolo’s game in 2019/2020 and you shall see his real talent. Another unfortunate for him when he’s back from injury and he got Mourinho pragmatism as his coach.

  7. Anyone who says Zaniolo is not a good player, I think they should check if their TV isn’t upside down… that boy has talent and is a good dribbler and can create chances out of nothing! My only doubt is his fitness, if he can stay fit, he will be a big upgrade on the LW and he can even play as a AM and we need physicality in the AM position!
It’s always good to have a good left footed player in your team!
