Pedulla: Differing approaches – Conte and Allegri still candidates for Italy job

Despite his downplaying of the rumours last week, it appears AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri is still being considered by the FIGC for the national team role.

Since the defeat to Bosnia, several high-profile Italians have been linked to a role with the national team. However, there have been four main candidates for the FIGC, it seems. Those would be Antonio Conte, Roberto Mancini, Simone Inzaghi and finally, Allegri.

Mancini and Inzaghi have remained quiet about the role, but the Italian press have had numerous opportunities to speak to Conte and Allegri about their futures.

A perfect fit

As Calciomercato.com recalls, the Napoli manager has been rather open about the job, stating that it was ‘right’ that he was being linked to the job. From Milanello, his opposite on Monday was very different, confirming his desire to stay at the club for a long time.

Regardless of that, both emphasised a need for change from the ground upwards.

Included in the Calciomercato.com report is information from Alfredo Pedulla too, who states that Allegri is seen as a ‘perfect option’ by the FIGC. Despite his public rejection of the job, the 58-year-old would be welcomed with open arms.

Maybe we have not seen the end of this saga, despite it seeming like it had been put to sleep.
