Conte, Milan and Napoli

GdS: ‘A rekindled flame’ – Conte could leave Napoli and remains ‘fascinated’ by Milan

AC Milan may make the decision to change coach once again in the summer, and the idea of Antonio Conte arriving cannot be ruled out.

When the decision was made to move on from Stefano Pioli towards the end of last season, there was pressure from various pundits and fans to hire Conte, a man who has won virtually anywhere he has been.

However, the directors decided to go for Paulo Fonseca who ended up lasting just 24 games before being sacked. They then turned to Sergio Conceicao, and while there has been some upturn the top four still looks a long way away.

Given the break clause in his deal, there remains a chance that Conceicao lasts only six months as well. La Gazzetta dello Sport have put forward the rather surprising idea that Conte could end up at Milan after all.

Their podcast is titled: ‘From the first clues to the Ibra unknown: a rekindled flame between Conte and Milan?’. With the end of the season just a few months away, they stated Conte’s farewell to Napoli seems ‘far from unlikely’.

They add: ‘The Italian coach wants to stay in Italy and the Milan project, which had already fascinated him a year ago, still seems to be designed specifically for him’.

  1. The good thing about Conte, is that he can guarantee a top 2-3 to any team not named Tottenham and will put us in a good position for the scudetto. He also demonstrated his willingless to adapt a bit and change from his usual 3-5-2.
The bad things however, is that he’s going to ask for something like 9M€, probably something like a 150M€ transfer window and can’t focus on more than one (1) competition at a time. Although the latter part shouldn’t be an issue next season if we hire him.

    1. Only if he has no European play. That’s the only time he wins anything. The fact that he already wants to leave Napoli should tell you something. The guy will do the same here. He’s never happy anywhere. Not to mention he drove out their best player and chose Lukaku over Oshimen. They won’t win anything this year, they have already started to fall apart. Just beaten by Como, and 2 draws before that.

        1. Nothing to do with Conte – the Georgian left because he was on a pathetic salary despite being one of two best players on the team and the goofball ADL didn’t want to give him what he’s worth…

          1. Yes. 1 million salary for kvara. His agent want increase a few years a go, but napoli deny.

Now, when others big team want to buy him, napoli want to give 5,5 million. But it was to late, psg promise him 9 million, almost double napoli want to give.

  2. Gasperini is there after he announced he will leave Atlanta Conte is mad he will ask so many unnecessary players and leave with mess

  3. Surely we can keep Sergio another year and see what he can do with I dunno a full preseason, the odd proper training session or two, players he actually wants? 🤔

    1. Conte is not the problem. The problem is the owner. RedBird will turn Conte into another Giampaolo or Fonseca.
Most top managers will not take the Milan job because of the clueless owners. Even if they do, they wil feel like they are at the wrong club at the wrong time and will look to be sacked or get out

  4. This is ridiculous. Conte will not come now. It is too late. Why would he leave a good team for a worse one. He is not that stupid.

  5. Ancellotti I reckon helped build Napoli back up. Would be nice to have him back to rebuild Milan for a couple of seasons. Maignan Theo and leao can fund the rebuild.

  6. I hope he does not joing Milan. Milan would turn him into a mid-table manager and fire him after 6 months.
Milan can change coaches, sporting directors, players, management, or whatever… it will not solve anything. The problems will still continue.
The problem is not Sergio nor the players (except whoever was bought under the current owners); it is 100% the owners. Until the owners change, every problem will keep repeating itself. They have no clue how to run a successful football club. It’s just out of their depth
