Conte highlights how Inter must improve from league derby defeat and why Milan are ‘not just’ Ibrahimovic

By Oliver Fisher -

Inter boss Antonio Conte had some complimentary words for AC Milan ahead of Tuesday night’s Coppa Italia clash.

The Rossoneri will be looking to secure their passage into the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia by beating their city rivals at San Siro, having made the final four of the competition in each of the last three seasons, with the last time they got knocked out in the quarter-final stages being all the way back in 2016-17.

Stefano Pioli revealed that Milan are very much wounded again going into the game, and changes are expected despite the fact it will be another important knockout derby.

Conte spoke to Rai Sport on the eve of the game and discussed what he is expecting from Milan and from his side.

“We have respect for the Italian Cup, we must have a great team performance to get through the round. Ibrahimovic is an important player, but Milan is not just him. There is a team with other strong players who are doing important things,” he said (via MilanLive).

It was the red half of the city who were celebrating after the league meeting in the fourth round, so Inter want to redeem themselves and win tomorrow.

“In the league derby we went down 2-0, then we pulled one back and we had other opportunities to draw. Tomorrow and in general we need to be more clinical when we arrive in the area.”
