CorSera: Chaos, boos and confusion – Milan have a lot to fix over the break

By Oliver Fisher -

Having collected just two points from their opening three games of the season, it would be fair to say that Paulo Fonseca’s time as AC Milan head coach has not started as he hoped it would.

Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) writes this morning that there is a tense climate surrounding Milan at the moment, also because of the saga involving Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leao during the cooling break in the second half of the game against Lazio.

The club did not punish them with a fine and tried to immediately push the matter away, but the atmosphere at Milan remains very delicate. There were also loud boos at the Olimpico from the Rossoneri fans present in the away sector, because they are not enjoying what they are seeing.

Milan absolutely cannot continue in this way and everyone expects more, especially from those who should be the leaders of the team like Theo and Leao, both fundamental. Zlatan Ibrahimovic might be needed as a lightning rod when he returns from his vacation as well, the paper adds.

The rest is what Fonseca will have to think about, as he has to solve many problems on the pitch during the break. There is no balance in midfield, and this is contributing towards a disastrous defensive phase with six goals conceded in three games.

The numbers so far are certainly not those of a club wanting to fight for the Scudetto which was the objective declared at the start of the season. It is true that we are only at the beginning and there is time to recover, but an immediate change of direction is needed.
