CorSera: Krunic’s departure would open the door for a midfield arrival at Milan

By Euan Burns -

The potential departure of Rade Krunic to Fenerbahce in January would allow AC Milan to sign a new midfielder and add better depth to that area of the squad, a report claims.

As has been reported by Corriere della Sera (via Milan News), Krunic is looking more than ready to leave the club but no official bid has come in from Fenerbahce or Lyon for his services.

With Tommaso Pobega facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines and Ismael Bennacer heading to the Africa Cup of Nations with Algeria, Milan cannot cope with losing Krunic and not replacing him.

The order of the month is certainly central defenders, a left-back, and potentially a striker, but they would enter the market for a midfielder too were Krunic to bring his Milan career to an end.

No names are specifically mentioned in the report but given Milan signed a handful of midfielders in the summer transfer window, they will have other names in mind who could be targeted again this month.

The fact that Milan are willing to enter the market for a midfielder suggests that Kevin Zeroli is not viewed as being a genuine depth option right now by Stefano Pioli.
