CorSera: Milan and Calhanoglu heading for divorce due to silence – confidence filters about De Paul

By Oliver Fisher -

The Milan management have made the choice not to wait for players who are on expiring contracts and to plan for life without them.

As reported by il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews), after the end of the season Hakan Calhanoglu did not respond to Milan’s offer as expected. He believes it is still too early to decide what to do with his future, and therefore any decision will be postponed after the European Championships, but Milan are not willing to compromise.

Pioli has put Calhanoglu at the centre of a project that is moving forward with full sail and has always publicly stressed his esteem for the attacking midfielder, but this was not enough. The farewell between the two parties now seems certain. Rodrigo De Paul of Udinese is the No.1 target to replace him and although there is strong competition for the 27-year-old, Milan are confident.
