CorSera: Milan head to Thursday’s game in Portugal with €15m on the line

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan face one of their most important knockout games in a while on Thursday night as they face Rio Ave in Portugal.

The Rossoneri have so far navigated both of their Europa League qualification games quite well, beating Shamrock Rovers 2-0 in Dublin and then triumphing 3-2 over Bodo/Glimt at San Siro on Thursday night.

As il Corriere della Sera writes (via MilanLive), Milan on Thursday will tackle Portuguese side Rio Ave with the intention of earning qualification to the group stage of the Europa League.

It is a fundamental match for the Rossoneri both on a sporting level but also at an economic level, as there is an important cash boost on the line.

If Milan were to make the group stages, it would generate an extra €15million in guaranteed revenue at least (with more if they go beyond), a treasure that the management could also use in the very last days of the transfer window.
