CorSera: Milan lose defensive leader Tomori but operation is avoided

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s defensive hierarchies will shuffle around once again as Fikayo Tomori faces an extended period on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, a report claims.

As Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) writes, Tomori was one of the seven Rossoneri players who could boast the record of not having suffered an injury in this first part of the season. Needless to say, that number has now become six.

Tomori faces at least two months out, but to sweeten the bitter feeling the risk of an operation has been averted. The Englishman had an MRI scan this morning which revealed that he has suffered a more serious issue than first hoped.

What is certain is that Milan not only loses the leader of the defence but also the best player of the season so far. It is an absence that throws an already battered defensive department even further into darkness.

Given that Simon Kjaer has just returned from injury and is the only fit senior option, it is obvious that Stefano Pioli will have to reconfigure the list of options. Jan-Carlo Simic made his debut last weekend and could become a starter now, with Clinton Nsiala possibly promoted from the Primavera.

      1. Even your child like mind has to admit that AC Maldinis team will finish in a far better position than this current AC Milan team.

However, I like that you’re back to to your normal “SUCK A RICHARD!” comment. It shows your consistency.

Most people want to support winners on our team. It’s strange that you don’t.

        1. I’m not a Maldini hater, but his squad did finish 5th last year, so not sure what you base your “Even your child like mind has to admit that AC Maldinis team will finish in a far better position than this current AC Milan team” on. We’re in third place and two of our three best players so far (Pulisic and Reijnders) came in after he left. Not sure how Maldini would have been able to prevent muscle injuries. Is he the Fifth Element now as well? Will Maldini walk on water next?
