There is one area of the pitch which is going to look completely different to last season for AC Milan and that is the midfield, with one more player needed to complete the transformation.
Corriere della Sera (via Milan News) have described the situation as a ‘midfield metamorphosis’, as Sandro Tonali’s departure and the signings of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tijjani Reijnders have led to a switch in formation.
Stefano Pioli is set to move to a 4-3-3 formation, ditching the 4-2-3-1 that he has used for the majority of his time at the club.
The final addition to this new midfield would be Valencia midfielder Yunus Musah, who is keen to make the move and has already agreed on personal terms. Milan need to find a deal with Valencia who recently upped the price to €25 million.
One more player is needed given Ismael Bennacer’s serious injury will keep him out of the start of the season.
