CorSera: Milan welcome back Pioli with one objective in mind against Celtic

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan go into tonight’s game against Celtic with one hope: to secure qualification for the knockout stages of the Europa League a game in advance.

According to today’s edition of il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews), Milan will try to get their passage in the bag so they can focus on the league for the time being, because while European competitions are always exciting for the fans, they are beginning to dream more about Serie A.

As the paper adds, if Gianluigi Donnarumma and co. win against the group’s bottom-placed side in Celtic and Lille beat Sparta Prague in France, Milan will indeed qualify ahead of the sixth round of games and avoid another precarious situation like the one in 2018-19 where they missed out in the final game after losing at Olympiakos.

Stefano Pioli will lead the team from the bench as he has finally recovered from Coronavirus. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, on the other hand, will have to wait a little longer, but the team will be looking to demonstrate their growth in playing without the Swede again.
