AC Milan have achieved what they set out to do as they were crowned champions of Italy for a 19th time thanks to a 3-0 win over Sassuolo.
This morning’s Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) writes how Stefano Pioli’s side won a trophy that very few believed was possible at the beginning of the season, but as the wins continued to come and the games left decreased it became a real possibility.
The paper adds that Milan’s season had at least three turning points: the first was certainly the comeback victory in the return derby against Inter, the second was 92nd-minute winner at Lazio from Sandro Tonali and finally the last one was the goal 8 minutes from the end by Rafael Leao against Fiorentina, a few days after Inter’s defeat against Bologna.
At the end of an incredible season it is the Rossoneri who were undoubtedly the most consistent team and the one who believed in it the most from start to finish. The growth of all the individuals during the season has been incredible, but it is the collective unity that has been the big strength of this side.
