CorSera: Pioli gives speech to Milan squad at Milanello after Atalanta defeat – what was said

The 3-0 defeat against Atalanta on Saturday night put a dampener on the fact that AC Milan were crowned winter champions.

According to il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews), there are some at Casa Milan that fear an emotional backlash from such a heavy defeat and therefore an immediate reaction is needed. Tomorrow evening the Rossoneri will face Inter in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals, a match that takes on greater importance after Saturday’s defeat.

Maldini and Massara showed up at Milanello on Sunday to ease the tension, the paper claims. Coach Stefano Pioli also wanted to charge the team, telling them: “Nothing serious has happened, the championship still lasts four months, let’s get our heads up and start again.”

Tomorrow’s match against Inter is suddenly worth much more than a possible passage to the semi-finals cup. Milan need a good performance to put the defeat against Atalanta behind them, therefore the Rossoneri must immediately forget the misstep on Saturday and have an immediate reaction, just as happened after the defeats against Juventus and Lille.
