Olivier Giroud is finally ready to become a new Milan player, having arrived in Italy last night. This morning, he initiated the medical tests and will sign his contract at Casa Milan later today.
As highlighted by Corriere Della Sera (via MilanNews), Milan wanted an experienced player for the attack, one that could help lead the young players in the team. It will be up to Giroud, along with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Simon Kjaer, to lead the squad.
The Frenchman will mainly act as the deputy for Ibrahimovic but it won’t be his only responsibility, as Stefano Pioli is considering a two-man attack for some games. In other words, he would play alongside Ibrahimovic.
A change of formation would be needed but it’s something that the manager is probing as a tactical solution for some games. It shouldn’t be a problem for them to coexist, considering that they both have a very good understanding of the game.
