Paulo Fonseca has been given a boost ahead of AC Milan’s fixture against Monza – Tammy Abraham has returned to training. But will he play?
Milan have no alternative other than winning against Monza this weekend, and failing to do so would create a heavily toxic environment. At present, they find themselves 11 points away from the league leaders, and any more of a gap would be season-ending almost.
If the pressure on this match was not heightened enough, a clash against Real Madrid in midweek will only add to things, given their chances of progression in the Champions League could be further slashed with a negative result.
For this reason, it has already been reported that Paulo Fonseca is revisiting the drawing board for this weekend’s fixture, and this could involve Abraham coming back into the line-up which is a possibility.
Corriere dello Sport (via Milan News) write that he has returned to training, taking part in a group session and personal work yesterday, and evaluations will be done this morning to decide his fate this weekend.
The decision will be made by Fonseca alongside the medical team, but it could be that a return in the Champions League is preferred, to protect him rather than risk further aggravating the injury.
