Ardon Jashari played from start against Lazio on Thursday evening, and as highlighted by Corriere dello Sport this morning, he did a decent job in Luka Modric’s absence.
Replacing Modric was never going to be easy, especially after such a long time on the sidelines, but Jashari showed glimpses of what he’s capable of against the Biancocelesti. In our ratings for the game, he was given a 6/10, passing the test despite the defeat.

On the other hand, as pointed out by Gazzetta dello Sport this morning, Modric’s absence was certainly felt and the Croatian will be back from start against Torino. Still, the veteran will eventually need to get more consistent rest.
Allegri pleased with his deputy
As highlighted by today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (see featured image), the start against Lazio was Jashari’s first since May 25th, when he was still playing for Club Brugge. In other words, the Swiss international had to wait six months for his first start with the Rossoneri.
In the first half of the game, Jashari seemed more focused on avoiding mistakes rather than taking responsibility and attempting the difficult passes. That was probably the case for some of his teammates too, but at least the 23-year-old improved in the second half.
The Modric-esque pass for Pervis Estupinan was spectacular, and it should have resulted in a goal through Rafael Leao. Clearly, if Jashari can continue to provide passes like that, he will be a great asset for Milan this season.
Massimiliano Allegri views him as a deputy for Modric as a deep-lying midfielder, but he could also play in other positions as needed. Against Lazio, he touched the ball 92 times, completing 79 of 86 passes, and winning four of seven duels.
Allegri expressed his satisfaction after the match, and after a three-month wait, Jashari’s season with Milan can truly begin.
see i didnt really think of him as 40m euros for last season but if he can be 80% of what modric is today at 40. he is 100% worth
Modric is in a different class…I don’t expect him to be anywhere near Modric’s capability….Jashari will need to play at a much higher level before he can adequately replace Modric. He will be useful though.
I think we will see the true Jashari next season
