CorSport: Milan have January budget available after €18m deal collapsed

The AC Milan management will have a budget available to go out and strengthen the squad in January if they see fit, according to a report.

According to Corriere dello Sport (via SempreMilan.it), the fact that Milan were willing to invest €18m to sign Mehdi Taremi from Porto at the end of the window shows there was a bit of money left over out of the summer budget.

The Iranian centre-forward was close to joining the Rossoneri after a fee was agreed between the clubs, but in the end the deal did not materialise and Milan opted to sign Luka Jovic right at the end of the window from Fiorentina.

That remaining budget saved in the summer could come in handy in the winter, when Milan could need some additions to aim for the Scudetto and the Champions League.

Whether the amount directly corresponds to the same €18m figure is not known, and there is of course the possibility that the management choose not to spend in January and instead save the budget for next summer.

  1. I never believe that Milan really have guts to sign Taremi. Because that transfer will not matched with Milan’s usual transfer-strategy. Taremi is 28 years old, have very little space to improve in value or performance & hasn’t win anything to lead the Milan team.

Jovic is more matched the usual strategy : Have some spaces to grow in his age with the talent is still there (He was a wonderkid striker), and in free transfer. Very safe transfer, with some hope to repeat some good memories : Kalulu, Maignan, Theo, Thiaw, and the newest : Pulisic & Loftus-Cheeks. Bought at pretty cheap, wasn’t impressed at old club but the talent is there.

    1. 1. He is 31
      2. There was clear attempts to sign him because a squad with no experience ends up like Chelsea, go see how they are after 1 billion spent.
      3. Jovic was done as a last resort in favourable conditions if it works out great if not he leaves for free.

      1. So was Jack Bonvantoura and to an extent KPD….

So let’s hope our failure in the striker department transfer market was a blessing in disguise

Come on JOVIC, goal I’m the derby and your career is back on track!!!
