AC Milan are interested in signing Khephren Thuram from OGC Nice but they face strong competition to land his signature, a report claims.
According to this morning’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via Paisley Gates), Thuram is in demand this summer amid expectations that Nice will look to cash in on the 23-year-old midfielder, and Milan are on his trail.
However, the paper states that Liverpool are ‘in the lead’ to sign Thuram, with the Rossoneri also joined by their biggest rivals Inter and Juventus in pursuit of the Frenchman.
The transfer fee would be no problem, because is reported that he would cost somewhere in the region of €20-25m given the fact that his contract expires in June 2025, weakening Nice’s negotiating position.
Of course Inter have Marcus Thuram – Khephren’s older brother – which could help the Nerazzurri, however the uncertainty surrounding their ownership situation may hamper their ability to make signings.
Thuram can play either as a box-to-box midfielder or as a deeper-lying player, and it has been widely reported in the media that Milan are looking for someone that can screen the defence given the issues in transition last season.
Another player that has been linked is Youssouf Fofana of AS Monaco, who has an identical contract situation and can apparently leave for the same fee.
If he’s anything like his other family members I’d focus on him instead of Fofana.
Thuram is more of a ball carrier rather than a true defensive midfielder. I don’t watch Nice but according to what I saw and collected, he is not what we should be looking for. Fofana is more defensive than him in this regard but what we need are players like Hojbjerg, Hjulmand, Ederson or even Amrabat.
Thuram AND Amrabat (or Ederson) though….
That very affordable midfield two makes our current crop look Sunday league.

They are not very expensive buys also might come between 40-50m combined while we get 25+m from dekaetelaere sale.
